A traveler’s journey shouldn’t just be collected in snapshots and thoughts; it deserves to be bound by hand.
Simple Sutra invites you into a quiet, creative sanctuary nestled inside an eclectic Colombo home. Inspired by the philosophy of intentional living, we thread together local textures, slow rituals, and the art of memory-keeping. This is an open invitation to escape the frantic pace of the city, sip fine Ceylon tea, and co-create a tangible piece of your travel story alongside a local maker.

This is not a typical craft class or a workshop. You will come through the door of a home filled with things collected over many years. That setting is a part of the experience. It is what you will remember for years to come.
You will leave with a handmade travel journal – A journal built from papers of your choice, bound with threads, layered with your own memories in Sri Lanka. You’ll drink good tea, hear real stories, write in a way that feels natural, and leave with a journal you made for yourself. This is not a tour. It is an invitation.

Step through the door of a home filled with things collected slowly over many years, styled with thrifted treasures and family heirlooms. We begin around a quiet table with a curated tasting of single-origin Ceylon tea served alongside traditional local snacks. Away from the typical guidebooks, we share the soft rituals and hidden stories of Sri Lankan daily life.

Run your fingers over eco-friendly, handmade Sri Lankan papers, select bits of vintage handloom fabric scraps, and utilize custom “Colombo Life” stamps designed in-house. Under careful guidance, you will learn simple bookbinding techniques to piece together your custom travel notebook from scratch.

A journal is a home for the moments that stay in your mind. Using mindful prompts, I will help you weave your travel memorabilia —tickets, pressed tropical flowers, and scattered thoughts— into your pages. You won’t just leave with a souvenir, you will leave with a journal of what Sri Lanka felt like.
